      Wornall House Ghost Tours

John Wornall's wife Eliza saw the construction of the Wornall House, witnessed its use as a field hospital during the Battle of Westport, suffered the deaths of her father and five of her children, and watched her city, country and home be torn apart during the Civil War. Dying shortly after the war, her spirit lives on in the Wornall House as one of the most commonly seen unearthly residents of the museum. Our one-hour Ghost Tours take you into the life (and death) of Eliza Wornall, touching on stories of ghostly sightings as well as historical Victorian beliefs when it came to death and spirituality. You'll quickly understand why the Wornall House rightfully holds the reputation of being one of the most haunted locations in Kansas City. Your ticket price includes a hot beverage and snack before or after your tour.   FAQs Can children attend? Children are welcome to attend at the discretion of their parent or guardian. Some themes may be spooky for young children, touching on death, ghosts, war, and medical procedures. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Is this is a "haunted house" attraction? No. We do not do jump scares. Ghost Tours are based on historical facts and the stories of actual people who believe they have had an experience with spirits in the Wornall House. However, our Ghost Tours do have a spooky atmosphere and presenters in period dress - perfect for those seeking a more realistic haunted experience. Where do I park? The Wornall House is located in the historic Brookside neighborhood. Because of this, only street parking is available. Please allow yourself a few extra minutes to find a parking spot. The majority of guests find parking within one block of the house. Can I bring food or drink? Food and drink is not allowed inside the Museum. Guests are invited to enjoy a hot beverage and snack prior to or after their tour. In addition, alcoholic beverages are strictly forbidden on Museum property. We reserve the right to turn away visibly intoxicated patrons. Is the Wornall House handicapped accessible? Because of the historic nature of the home, the second floor does not have elevator access. The first floor is accessible by wheelchair ramp. Ghost Tours involve approximately one hour of standing, walking, and ascending stairs. Some reasonable accomodations may be possible - please contact 816-444-1858 if you have special needs. Can I get a bulk discount? If you would like to buy out a complete tour slot (minimum 12 tickets), please contact 816-444-1858 for information about discounts. How do I get my member discount? If you are a member of Wornall/Majors House Museums, please check your email for a coupon code to apply at checkout. If you have not received your email or need help checking out, call 816-444-1858.
