      Artist Dinner Series: Hew Locke

Join us Friday, September 13, at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Hew Locke: Here’s the Thing with British artist Hew Locke, our honored guest for Kemper Museum’s third Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Artist Dinner following his public talk. Exploring the languages of colonial and post-colonial power, how different cultures fashion their identities through visual symbols of authority, and how these representations are altered by the passage of time is a focus of Locke’s work. Born in Edinburgh, UK, Locke spent his formative years –spanning the 1960s and 70s– in Guyana, before returning to the UK, providing opportunity for a creative and complex menu that parallels the artist’s oeuvre. Price: $125 per person *price includes drinks, dinner, and gratuity  Please let us know any dietary restrictions by emailing by September 6. Building on the history of unique culinary events hosted by Kemper Museum's Café Sebastienne under the direction of Executive Chef Rick Mullins, join us for a special series of Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Artist Dinners exploring the art and artists of our time with a remarkable artist-inspired menu each night.
