      Artist Dinner Series: Angel Otero

Join us Friday, August 23, at 7:30 p.m. for a special private dinner with Puerto Rican-born, New York-based artist, Angel Otero, following his public talk and debut of Kemper Museum’s fourth annual Atrium Project. This commissioned, site-specific installation draws on Otero’s process-based approach, influenced by memories based in photographs and other family memorabilia combined with the gestures of twentieth century painting. Instead of representing his life through art, Otero is said to archive moments within it by creating opportunities of surprise and discovery. In addition to numerous visits to Kansas City to source the found objects and images included in this newest work, Otero spent time with Chef Mullins to discuss their shared love for the distinct ingredients and flavors found in food from the Caribbean. (Photo: courtesy of the artist and Lehmann Maupin, New York, Hong Kong, and Seoul; Javier Romero)  Price: $125 per person *price includes drinks, dinner, and gratuity  Please let us know any dietary restrictions by emailing dschreiner@kemperart.org by August 16. Building on the history of unique culinary events hosted by Kemper Museum's Café Sebastienne under the direction of Executive Chef Rick Mullins, join us for a special series of Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Artist Dinners exploring the art and artists of our time with a remarkable artist-inspired menu each night.
