In the 1930s and 1940s, the Blue Room was one of the hottest spots in the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District, located in the Street Hotel. Today that legacy plays on as part of the American Jazz Museum; however, the name is the only thing that remains the same. Since its opening, the Blue Room has provided a distinctive platform to present dynamic performances from the best local and national jazz talent in an intimate setting, playing a key part in sustaining Kansas City's strong jazz heritage at 18th & Vine.
