      Wornall House Ghost Tours

The smell of pipe tobacco following you up the stairs. A Civil War soldier who stops to peer at you as you walk by. The sounds of children playing upstairs. These are just some of the uncanny experiences visitors, volunteers, and staff have experienced at the Wornall House. Formerly the home of a wealthy landowner in Kansas City, the house was also used as headquarters for the notorious Union general Doc Jennison, a field hospital during the Battle of Westport, and the scene of many other historic and fascinating events. No wonder the house is now known as one of the most haunted locations of Kansas City. Join us for a one-hour ghost tour of the Wornall House, featuring ghostly retellings, reenactments, and a feature presentation from the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.   FAQs   Are there minimum age requirements to attend? Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Some topics covered may potentially be frightening to some children, including death, ghosts and surgical procedures. We do not have a minimum age requirement, but ask that parents only bring children who can stand/listen quietly for a full hour.   What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? The Wornall House is located in the Brookside neighborhood. Street parking is available, but be advised you may need to walk several blocks. Please let us know if handicapped parking is required so that we can mark off an appropriate number of spots.   Where do I check in? Check-in is located in the Carriage House, the white structure located directly behind the Wornall House. Directional signs will direct to you the proper location. We will have a bonfire and hot beverages to enjoy while you wait for your tour to begin. We reccomend arriving approximately 15 minutes before your tour starts. Tours will begin promptly. Is the house handicapped accessible? The second floor of the house is only accessible by stairs. Be advised that the tour involves 45 minutes to an hour of standing, walking, and ascending stairs. Service animals are allowed. If you have mobility issues or other special needs, please contact us in advance so we may accomodate you. Who can I contact for other questions? You may contact us at or 816-444-1858 for questions.
